New Island in Russia

It seems like Russia (which is the biggest country in the world) tries to compete with Dubai (United Arab Emirates) in unique construction projects. Before the building of artificial skiing resort had been finished (the similar one stands in UAE), Russian government has presented to the public the model of artificial island that will be raised from the Black Sea waters near Sochi coast in 2014, towards the opening of the Olympic Games. It is no no wonder that the island will be called “The Federation” - its shape will resemble the whole country in miniature.

Another project which looks similar to the ones that we have in the backyard.

Penn students @ our projects.

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Just caught up with Atif “CM3 Guy” on site (The Warqaa Coutryards) to meet some architecture students from Penn University with Prof Samia Rab, Associate Professor of Architecture and Heritage Management, SAD. It was great to have a quick chat about Dubai and the new projects coming up all around. I think Atif did a good job explaining and giving details about the project ;) Thanks man.I was really confidence confident today after talking to few students, and sharing with them our experience in building B22/Warqa, and the difficult tasks that faced us while working with Dubai Municipality & land owners. The end result was showing in our design that they were different from the neigbhouring buildings, and we are trying hard to make the landlord and the end users “tenants” both happy and comfortable in living in these spaces. I still believe we have not done our best, we see all the mistakes, and hosnetly, I don’t sleep at night due to some silly mistakes in design. Nevertheless, I can depend on my good team in bringing a new challenging designs for our new and upcoming projects around Dubai.I’m looking forward to have you guys again in our projects, feel free to contact me or Atif anytime you are back in Dubai. bye bye weekends

Dear Autodrome,

Our last race season, we ( My brother and I) had a great time racing here in Dubai in Autodrome. We usually had Thursday/Friday as a weekend. Thursday used to be the test/practice day, and Friday was Qualify/Race. Thursday is a good day, because we are free all day, but Fridays are always had a mid day prayers, which should not be missed.

On Friday, we have to cut our day, and leave the track for Juma’a “Friday Prayers” and then quickly head back to track so that we don’t miss our races. By changing to our racing suits and jumping into our racing cars quickly was not part of the race event! It was very frustrating as (more…)

speedshot

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

One of my early projects (2002) (2003) for me is to find our what is speed by a Photo. It was quite an interesting project, as it have revealed many techniques in photography that had effected me indirectly in design. In the image above, it have the illusion that I’m driving very fast, but in-fact it was about 3-5km max. I was really worried about my equipment falling off.
