Positive Energy in AD

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Masdar (Means ’source’ in Arabic) is a developing a project in Abu Dhabi where they are trying to create a buildings that not only reduce the energy that it consumes, but product it too. The roof seems to me that it contains solar panels + wind turbines. Sounds very cool in this hot region.

The need to educate youngsters on the UAE’s rich architectural heritage was stressed by Dubai Municipality and Ministry of Education officials on Thursday.

The remarks came in a joint ceremony held by the municipality and ministry to award certificates and prizes to 61 young winners of a nationwide contest on historic buildings.

Rashad Mohammad Bukhash, Director of the General Projects Department at Dubai Municipality, and Ali Meihad Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Students’ Care and Activities attended.

Bukhash said the contest was organised with the objective of connecting the younger generation with the heritage of their forefathers. GulfNews
