Designed to invoke the coziness of nanna’s best room, Grandma’s Kitchen is the ultimate example of space efficiency. The unit transforms into a full kitchen complete with a sink, oven, fridge and cooktop to prepare your meals. Then thru a series of slides and latches transforms into a dining area for 4. The great thing about this design is if you don’t feel like cleaning up after a big meal, just push everything back in and close up shop. Out of sight, out of mind - that is until the following morning.

The three wind turbines on the Bahrain World Trade Centre are scheduled to be commissioned in three weeks time, the last week of October 2007. This is the first time that a commercial development has integrated large-scale wind turbines within its design to harness the power of the wind. The three massive turbines, measuring 29 meters in diameter, are supported by bridges spanning between the complex’s two towers. Through its positioning and the unique aerodynamic design of the towers, the prevailing on-shore Gulf breeze is funneled into the path of the turbines, helping to create power generation efficiency.Once operational, the wind turbines will deliver approximately 11-15% of the energy needs of the building, or 1100 to 1300 megawatt-hours per year — enough to provide light in 300 homes for over a year. TEMPOHOUSINGThis might be a tempo solution, but it is definitely not a temporary housing. Those very ugly 20ft/40ft containers that we see around Dubai causing huge traffic, could be turned into a beautiful habitat spaces with a minimum time to construct & budget. The brochure shows the many applications that we can use it in our upcoming new Dubai. With labour camps over populates, and Mirdif/Jumaira guys are paying 250% more than the market because they “Bachlors” in a family only property. This might be the solution (more…)

Just caught up with Atif “CM3 Guy” on site (The Warqaa Coutryards) to meet some architecture students from Penn University with Prof Samia Rab, Associate Professor of Architecture and Heritage Management, SAD. It was great to have a quick chat about Dubai and the new projects coming up all around. I think Atif did a good job explaining and giving details about the project
Thanks man.I was really confidence confident today after talking to few students, and sharing with them our experience in building B22/Warqa, and the difficult tasks that faced us while working with Dubai Municipality & land owners. The end result was showing in our design that they were different from the neigbhouring buildings, and we are trying hard to make the landlord and the end users “tenants” both happy and comfortable in living in these spaces. I still believe we have not done our best, we see all the mistakes, and hosnetly, I don’t sleep at night due to some silly mistakes in design. Nevertheless, I can depend on my good team in bringing a new challenging designs for our new and upcoming projects around Dubai.I’m looking forward to have you guys again in our projects, feel free to contact me or Atif anytime you are back in Dubai. One of my early projects (2002) (2003) for me is to find our what is speed by a Photo. It was quite an interesting project, as it have revealed many techniques in photography that had effected me indirectly in design. In the image above, it have the illusion that I’m driving very fast, but in-fact it was about 3-5km max. I was really worried about my equipment falling off.
